BOOK COVER PROJECT
For this project, I was tasked with redesigning the cover of two classic pieces of literature and one at random selection. Another objective was to have typography as the main component of design.
My To Kill a Mockingbird cover was inspired by the themes Scout comes to learn as the story unfolds. She realizes that the world is far from perfect and sees the injustices firsthand. That was why I made some of the type "‘imperfect’ to show this theme.
The Pride and Prejudice cover was an image of Mr. Darcy’s estate, made entirely of type. The color layering was also chosen to represent the judgments, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy had for each other.
The Highlight in the History of Concrete was the random selection. I was inspired by my mom’s coffee table books at home that were about design and architecture. She doesn’t necessarily consider them page-turners, but they are beautiful. I wanted to design a cover that was intriguing and relevant, so I showcased concrete being used in art abstraction as some of my favorites do.
